Frequently Asked Questions
How do you keep your prices so low?
First of all, we create websites that help achieve business goals, rather than websites that are as fancy as possible.
We have eliminated much of the overhead that many web development companies incur. By using home offices, we do not have office space rental, and transportation expenses. We can pass this savings on to you.
We also do not believe in “reinventing the wheel” and developing websites from scratch, when CMS themes exist that do the job as well or even better. This helps save time, and allows us to pass more savings on to you. The themes we use allow us to create almost any layout that is desired and most effective to attract customers to your business.
Also, we are not an agency. Web development agencies will outsource your project to freelancers. David Kellerman is a freelancer, who will sometimes partner with other freelancers. This eliminates the middleman.
Why should we hire you guys?
Who are your customers?
We currently serve clients who are located through out the country. Modern technology makes it possible to communicate with customers located almost anywhere, even around the world. We service customers in a wide range of industries. We can speak and create websites in Spanish, as well as English.
Do you guarantee my satisfaction?
We put a satisfaction guarantee in writing. If you are not satisfied with the site when we ask you to accept it, we will make it right, or give you your money back as outlined in the proposal. If down the road a programming error or “bug” is found, we will fix it at no charge as outlined in our proposal.
What happens to my website if you guys go out of business, or disappear due to an emergency?
You will own your website. It will be located at the host of your choice. You will have a separate contract with the host, and have the userid and password to your account. You or anyone you designated can access your website at all times.
How do I know you will be there when I need you?
We have been in business for many years. If you sign up for webmaster services, we have a responsibility to continue helping you with your website, after it has been created. We guarantee in writing to fix programming bugs for up to one year.
Do you use a contract?
We provide written proposals that when signed becomes a contract between you and us. Building a website is a team effort between you and us. The proposal outlines what we will do, and also what you will need to do to make the website happen. The proposal is written in simple language that should not be difficult to understand. We are more than happy to consider changes to our written proposal.
Do you provide hosting? We do not have servers that can be used to host your site. It will be necessary to get hosting with a hosting provider. We can suggest a hosting provider, but the choice is up to you.
Do you register or provide domain names?
If you do not already own a domain name, we can help you register a new one. We suggest domain names that are short, easy to remember, and easy to pronounce. You will have to register domain names at a domain name register. Oftentimes, this is done with the same company that is providing the hosting. We can help suggest a hosting provider that also provides domain name registration. In some cases a desired domain name may be taken. In this case, we may be able to help you purchase the domain from someone else.
What services do you not provide? We can design simple logos, but for more detailed work it may be necessary to hire a graphic designer. We may be able to assist in locating a designer to help you, or you can use anyone you wish. We generally do not build websites from scratch, and prefer to use content management systems like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. We also do not provide legal services if there are issues with domain names and trademarks.
What is the advantage of using a well-known content management system such as WordPress?
Some web development firms use their own content management systems. With these private systems, it will be hard for anyone else to work on the website. We prefer to use well-known CMS such as WordPress. This ensures that you can hire people many years from now, and they will be able to understand what is going on.
Another big advantage of using a well-known content management system, is that it makes it much easier to manage the content of the site, which may allow you as well as us to make updates, such as adding an article to a blog. This will cut down on your expenses as it will not be necessary to pay someone a high hourly rate to do this.
